As I’m typing now I’ve already lost feeling in my right fingers, my whole right hand is tingling, as is my left, and both my legs feel as if they are about to go to sleep. I’ve been in and out of the ER for various things: June-ish: thought I was having a heart attack, found out my heart is perfectly fine. My DDimer is elevated every time I go.July: went because of complete numbness of my hands and feet, couldn’t even feel when they put the IV in, could barely lift my head and speak. They thought I was having a stroke so they put me through the ringer for testing, CT, MRI, blood tests galore. I was perfectly fine. August: severe chest pain, dizziness, short of breath. Back to ER for “heart attack” more blood tests, all fine. Even was told my calcium level was 0. August: went to my primary care and told her what was going on, she was adamant that it was my gallbladder and sent me for an ultrasound. No stones were visible. Sent me for a Hida scan. Ejection Fraction was 46 which is well withing normal, BUT it did duplicate my symptoms of chest pain/general abdominal pain. She sent me for a surgical consult on Monday , Sept 19 which I didnt go to. (I cancelled it because we were moving two days after that date) Tuesday Sep 27 I was wracked with the most severe abdominal pain I’ve ever had, nausea, chills, fever, and had diarrhea for like a week prior. Went to ER again around 4pm, THIS time, they found something(I thought) Liver enzymes were elevated, Lypase was 448, and white blood cell count was very high. They admitted me and were going to remove my gallbladder on Thursday after my infection cleared up. (they game me pain killers and antibiotics) by the next morning I felt drastically better, and requested to be released as I wasn’t comfortable with the surgery falling on the day after our move. They drew more blood and all my levels were back to normal (Lypase dropped to 68) so they released me. I have been hurting off and on ever since then. Constant diarrhea, and the stool was a chalky color. I found a surgeon in our new town, gave her all this info and asked her what she thought. She ordered another ultrasound, and a CT with contrast because she was very worried about the Lypase levels. Also she did an upper GI scope thing, to see if I had ulcers. Ultrasound showed nothing. CT Scan showed perfectly healthy looking organs. Upper GI was clear. I had some inflammation of the stomach lining (which she said was normal) So she doesn’t feel like an operation to remove the gallbladder is justifiable (which I agree with if all the readings are good) Now, I also do NOT have menstrual cycles. I have one a year, and I’m not on any birth control nor have I had menopause. I am very obese now (5’6″ 280 lbs), and losing weight is almost impossible, despite being given drugs to help. I have concentration issues, memory problems(like crazy) and this nagging feeling like something is very wrong and everyone is missing it. I have degenerative Disc disease in my two lowest discs, which cause me some discomfort daily but nothing like the did at first. I have two healthy children that I carried full term, and delivered via C-section. I had severe Postpartum Depression after my second child, and took Lexapro for about 6 months, then weaned myself off. I get cold VERY easy. My feet are ICE COLD all the time, so cold it hurts my husband if I put them near him. And now the tingling is back in my hands and feet, and my brain is foggy. my knees and body feel like I’m moving through molasses. Sometimes my head weighs 400lbs and I can barely hold it up and have trouble speaking. There IS a family history of Diabetes, but every time my glucose is checked it’s “within normal limits” The surgeon prescribed me Zantac and that medication for Irritable Bowel, hoping that would ease some of my pains, and really she just felt bad for not having an answer for me when I was clearly in so much pain. Please, if anyone can help or offer advice I would be so very grateful. I don’t’ want to die and have them open me up and go “well look at that , that would have been easy to fix”
I was reasonably fit all through high school (15 pounds over recommended weight) despite running cross country, Drama, Chorus, Vollyball, and Student Council., though I was a tad chunky in middle school (6,7,8th grade) and no we were NOT plopped in front of the TV. I roller-bladed, ran, played outside for hours, swam etc. I was diagnosed with ADD when I was 4,and took Ritalin from age 4 to age 13 and still take medication(Vyvanse) off and on, but have not been on anything for about 4 months. I have also been diagnosed with Panic Attacks for this tingling, even though I don’t FEEL like I’m panicking at all, I think she was just trying to help too. (my primary doc) (just some history)
