What do local, state, and federal governments do about John and Jane Doe’s who are over the age of 18, with say no memory who have been evaluated by a psychiatrist and medical team(with no present mental defect, and maybe minor medical problems, or even something a bit larger like onset diabetes), do they create an identity or them beyond John or Jane, do they give them social security, job placement etc?

Thanks.

If I came to your door and talked to you about diabetes awareness what would I have to say to get you to listen. For example:The different types of diabetes,The complications, the out of pocket cost for medications and dr. visits,The facts of how many people have diabetes, etc.

Does anyone know anything about diabetes in cats?

I have posted this in pets, too. But, since people who might understand diabetes, in general, might not look in the pets section, I have also posted it here:

I don’t understand this. Our cat has had tests for all the typical things for illnesses, and comes out normal. For a long time, as a younger cat, he would urinate large quantities in his box, but with his large frame, 14 or 15 lbs. was in no way, overweight (we have other cats and I know what is normal). I took him into two different vets and both said his tests came out, normal.

Now, it is a few years later. He has had a couple bouts of what might appear to be a form of colitis, and it might be connected to the food he eats. Either way, now he is underweight for his frame, at about 11 lbs. or a tiny bit less. His rib cage seems a bit small, around for his body size, right now. I can’t figure out why this is. I am going to take him BACK to the vet, but wondered whether anyone has any suggestions or ideas? He is an indoor cat and is fed, appropriately. He always seems hungry. Our other cats are of normal weight.
I could have him checked for worms. He eats as much as we will give him, and as often. We have never had fleas on any of our animals, although one of our I/O cats did have tapeworm, so it would be assumed she ingested a flea.

What should I know about my Miniature Schnauzer?

I have a 7 week old Miniature Schanuzer. I have had him for a week and already he is housebroke. I want him to eat the best food. What is a good puppy chow as he has a high chance of diabetes and other problems. We gave him a piece of cooked deer meat and he got the poops and vomited. Other than that he plays, sleeps all night, doesn’t bark or bite.

When he is 8 weeks we will take him to the vet for his first shots and to have him microchipped.

How can I keep the stray dogs out of my yard, other than shooting them with my BB- gun? The reason for this is there is a lot of mange and other diseases and I don’t want my puppy contracting them. Very few people take care of there pets around here.

Vet Question About Diabetes In Dwarf Hamsters.?

Campbell’s Russian Dwarf Hamsters (Phodopus campbelli) are prone to diabetes. It is thought to be a genetically inherited disorder, although one hamster autopsied by a vet the UK thought it was possibly secondary to a virus that destroyed pancreatic cells. But since it is thought to be genetic, all responsible dwarf hamster breeders test their stock for diabetes. Most of us test using home urine test strips for ketones and glucose. My question is: How accurate are urine test strips meant for humans going to be in hamster urine? Hamsters concentrate their urine much more than people do – wouldn’t this affect the reading (giving a falsely high result)? If not, why not? If so, what are some other methods to test for diabetic hamsters? Most vets don’t deal with pocket pets, and even when they consent to treat them, many don’t even know the healthy blood glucose level for a dwarf hamster. What are our options?
