I am a British citizen that has just moved to the US to work for 3 years. I have diabetes and have aetna medical and detal cover, that I am only supposedly have to pay $20 for each visit. Not to bad I thought.
I broke my foot 4 months ago playing Football/Soccer and it cost me $120, even though i had medical insurance! I went to the dentist and it cost me $300, even though I had dental insurance!
Back in the UK I had my Diabetic prescriptions and check-ups all for FREE, as well as health care alround.
I would be very grateful if anyone can anyone can tell me how much I might have to pay on my first Diabetic check-up ?
Thanks
Andrew
Thanks to everyone that has made some suggestions. The funnyest being that maybe I should fly back to the UK and get it all done there, might be cheaper. Ha! You might be right. We will see.
I dont know how to add to reply to the helpful messages that are being sent. It not like a forum this site, or I cant see the button to ‘reply to topic’ or something like that.
Thanks Sue! I have an appointment for this Monday so we will see.

I have a faily old, blind, and deaf dog who can only eat home cooked foods. His diet consists of two eggs with rice, or chicken with garlic and carrots and rice. Once in a rare while, he will have a can of cat food, because I am away and he needs to be fed. He does pretty well if he is fed at the same time each day. He cannot eat dog food, if he does, he gets sick.
My questions are two fold, what sort of symptoms would he be showing if he were diabetic, and… at what point is it “OK” to say he has had a good life and can move on to the next life?
Thank you for some wonderful advise! He has one activity left that he enjoys… or seems to enjoy… sleeping. Nothing more. He eats a little of what is fixed for him, but no longer licking his plate clean. He doesn’t have excessive thirst, nor excessive unrination. He just pee’s while he is drinking, or as soon as he can see the door to outside. He does his bodily functions… standing… no longer lifting a leg or otherwise. Up until last week, he still tried to make it outside, but this week… not so much.
He is a special guy, was born in my daughters closet… there are two other dogs in our family, same breed same size about 1/3 the age.
I appreciate the comments. I will have a talk with my dog… and see what is next for us.
Thank you very much!!!
