Hey guys, well i was diagnosed with MODY (Mature Onset Diabetes of the Young) Which is pretty much just the gene for diabetes and i was wondering how will i know when i actually have diabetes, i’ve had MODY for 3yrs. My doc said it generally turns into type 1 diabetes. So how will i know without taking a test when i’ve got type 1 or 2?? It runs in my family.
If anyone has either type how did you know you had it?

Are they all the same? What if you consume too much food that does not contain fat and sugar of any kind in it will you still be at risk of diabetes?
The nutrition information on every food when it mentions the amount of calories does that count also the calories that comes from fat and sugar as well.

My mother is diabetic and I am a bit hypoglycemic. I am a bit worried about not being able to control sugars and would like to know from someone who might have a background in the medical field/nutrition and diet what effect running has. I’ve heard that exercising is “like taking insulin”.

Hi and thank you in advance for anyone who answers! If anyone has experience or knowledge about caring for a diabetic pet I would love to hear it.
On Monday my fiance’s 9-year-old Lhasa Apso was diagnosed with diabetes. He’s on insulin shots and a restricted diet. My fiance is going to buy him a blood glucose moniter so we don’t have to guess. I’m having a bit of a problem with giving the dog his shot cause I tend to faint around needles. When I get a shot at the doctor I’m okay as long as my eyes are shut, but I don’t imagine that will work well if I’m trying to administer his insulin (lol). If anyone else had this problem I would like to know how you overcame your fear of needles. I’m hoping to get over it and will try to give him his shots tomorrow (fingers crossed).
