Diabetes Supplements Archives

that people are rushing to use these new Joint repairing supplements and that Glucosamine Chondroitin is a chief culprit that actually raises blood sugar because of the fact that glucose is a primary ingredient in this supplement? Why aren’t the drug companies being honest with consumers and letting them know this?

Diabetes runs in my family. My grandma had it, but she died January 26, 2008. My poppie has it and my mom has it too.

Here are my symptoms:
-Overweight
-A period that lasted 5 weeks but is now over.
-Lightheaded/dizzy spells…..(read below)

In the last two weeks or so of school, I had to rush from my classes which are all over my school due to my schedule. I knew I was going to be late countless times, so I ran from one side fo my school to the other. When I got to my destination, my head was very light and I was a bit dizzy. It hurt so bad, but if I put pressure on it, it dulled. At times, I couldn’t open my eyes.

-Sharp abdominal pains, stabbing-like
-Pale skin
-Seldom nausea

My mom and I have determined that I have iron deficiancy anemia, which I am taking iron supplements for. I am just wondering because this was a diabetes scare and my mom thought so too. She was <-> that close to making a doctor’s appointment. Thank you for your help!
Woops, two more symptoms I forgot which according to WebMD, these are definite symptoms of diabetes. I am more thirsty than usual and I am urinating more often.

Best supplements for humans?

I’ve been doing my research and tweaking my supplements and diet. Unfortunately, as most of you know, the internet is an unwavering guide of mixing nonsense with fact. I’m a student at Purdue for nutrition but I’m only a sophomore so I’m fluent in health yet.

I know already that a multivitamin containing the standard “must have” vitamins (A, C, etc.. plus Zinc and all that) is a must. I also know that green tea extract (I prefer to drink actual green tea because i enjoy the flavor and aroma) and omega 3 is an absolute must. I’m having trouble deciding what else to add into my daily supplements.

Let me give you some further information on who I am and what I want:

I do workout 6 days a week. All are high intensity and 3 out of six days include weights. I have an EXTREMELY active metabolism (one that I can eat anything and still lose weight). I’m 21 years old. I have a slender build. Diabetes runs in my family (no threat to myself as of yet) as does obesity (again, with my active lifestyle there’s no threat of obesity to me YET).

I’m not looking for supplements to complement my workout as those are a dime a dozen and I’ll get a thousand different answers all arguing against each other. I have forgotten more about exercise supplements then most people will ever learn. The supplements I want and take promote longevity and health. I repeat, they promote longevity and health. What does this mean?

The supplements I incorporate into my daily life should promote a long and active lifestyle (ie should promote a highly functioning metabolism, alertness, mental stability in all its form [memory, reactions, etc...], bone and muscle health, etc…). These supplements should also promote general health and regulation (ie gastrointestinal health and regulation, cardiovascular health and regulation, nervous health and regulation, etc…) as well as preventative measures (ie cancer prevention, anxiety prevention, depression prevention, fatigue prevention, etc…).

This isn’t so much as a matter of opinion as it is a question of what has worked for everyone else. I’m looking for everyone’s input who has a source to site. Please try and site a source so I know what I could potentially be putting in my body. I appreciate everyone’s answer.

Thank you
Again, I’m NOT LOOKING TO LOSE WEIGHT OR BUILD MUSCLE…I got that on lockdown.

What does “kohlenhydrate davon zucker” mean?

It’s written on this jam meant for people with diabetes, but it’s written on German language. I wanna make sure there is no actual sugar in it. Fructose and sugar supplements are OK.
Thanks!

There is so much information in this forum about diets, and supplements, and chamomille tea, and all kinds of other homeopathic diabetes cures. Do people really believe in this hocus pocus medicine? Why not see an endocrinologist? Why not take the medication that you are prescribed and then monitor your blood sugar as directed? Diabetes has such awful complications – why mess around with potential complications?
I’m just really surprised with the amount of bad and potentially harmful advice here. My son has type 1 diabetes, and I’ve been to A LOT of classes and support groups and have been involved with JDRF and ADA functions and never ever once have I heard a doctor or educator saying “drink chamomille tea” or anything along those lines as a form of treatment.
